A chaplain is a priest assigned by the local bishop to a specific group of people. As OBSG chaplain, Father Bert assists and supports OBSG and its residents according to their needs and wants. His main function is the chaplaincy of the University Hospital. He is also Roman Catholic chaplain for International Students in Ghent and the International Roman Catholic Community Ghent
